Why sealed Pokémon product appreciates
Attrition
Most sealed product gets opened. Every booster box ripped for chase cards and alt arts permanently removes supply from the sealed pool. Years later, far fewer sealed boxes exist than were ever printed.
Print windows close
Sets are only printed for a limited window before The Pokémon Company moves on. Once a set rotates out of print, supply is fixed forever. Demand is not.
Nostalgia compounds
Each generation of kids grows into adults with disposable income who want the cards of their childhood. Base Set proved it, Evolving Skies repeated it, and sets like 151 are built on exactly that cycle.
